Microdermabrasion Treatment with BIOSKINEXFOL

For didactic reasons the way the microdermabrasion treatment should be applied is explained in phases.

Home Microdermabrasion
No skin preparation before the exfoliation is necessary. No pre-peel treatment with any other regime is necessary. First, clean your skin with an alcohol cleanser. Then just rub a little BIOSKINEXFOL cream on clean skin, with either the tips of your fingers or with a dry and soft cloth. Simply apply a small amount to the skin and rub in a rotational pattern. Wipe after 10 minutes.

For practical purposes, the area to be treated may be divided into squares of 4 × 4 inches or smaller if on the face.

The goal of the microdermabrasion is to remove the superficial layer of the skin know as the epidermis and allow the cream to penetrate evenly. The microdermabrasion may be performed until you start to see your skin reddened or until you feel the first pain of abrasion. When you touch the surface of the abraded skin, you will feel roughness of the skin, as you are touching keratinocytes, which are better hydrated than the surface corneocytes.

Keratinocytes originate in the basal layer from the division of keratinocyte stem cells. They are pushed up through the layers of the epidermis, undergoing gradual differentiation until they reach the stratum corneum where they form a layer of dead, flattened, highly keratinized cells called squamous cells. This layer forms an effective barrier to the entry of foreign matter and infectious agents into the body and minimises moisture loss.

Keratinocytes are shed and replaced continuously from the stratum corneum. The time of transit from basal layer to shedding is approximately one month.

Corneocytes are cells derived from keratinocytes during the late stages of terminal differentiation of squamous epithelia. Corneocyte desquamation at the skin surface is a complex biologic event which is normally regulated for providing an inconspicuous shedding of single corneocytes.

Application of the cream: The microdermabrasion cream can be applied with your finger tips or with a cloth until redness appears. Leave the product on your skin for about 10 minutes. Then cleanse by brushing or wiping off the micro-crystals. Usually with a 1-2 minutes massage to an area 10x10 cm (4 x 4 inches) the exfoliating of cells will be enough. Note that the entire area must be treated.

The quantity to be applied is about 0.5 g per 10 × 10 cm area.

The cream will be the active factor at the depth of the scars or stretch marks, while also acting on the normal dermis between scar tissues. Both elements will create the improvement. The microdermabrasion ultra-exfoliation stimulates the fibroblastic reaction of the normal dermal cells located between scar tissues.

The cream will be absorbed deep within the skin during the microdermabrasion massage.

Multiple treatments are required to improve stretch marks. Treatments should be repeated every 2-3 days. Superficial stretch marks will require a 2 months treatment to achieve about 50% to 80% improvement, whereas it may take as much as four or six months of treatments to significantly improve old, large and deep stretch marks.

General Guideline:
4 - 8 Weeks - for mild or minor scars or marks.
8 to 12 Weeks - for noticeable results for old and deep stretch marks.

Results are better and fewer treatments are needed with more recent and/or superficial scars or stretch marks. It works as well for stretch marks seen during puberty or many years after pregnancy.

Before starting the treatment you should know that the final result of the appearance of stretch marks will be an improvement but never a complete disappearance. So you have to make a final decision when to stop the treatment.

The microdermabrasion is performed to remove some of the corneocytes. These cells are responsible for the impermeability of the epidermis. Removing this layer allows the cream to penetrate.

The goal of the biological cream is to stimulate the fibroblasts of the healthy zones between stretch marks and act also at the depth of the scars or stretch marks.

The glycoprotein enzyme and the moisturizing and lipid enhancers contained in the cream start a partial dissociation of the corneocytes and enhance the penetration of the product by diminishing the superficial tension. Breaking of the barrier function of the epidermis creates an immediate stimulation of the lipids, DNA and growth factors into the keratinocytes that will stimulate their differentiation.

After the action of the abrasion and the cream on the healthy parts of the skin between the scar tissues, the cream also acts at the depth of the marks, stimulating re-epithelization and enhancing fibroblast production.

Caution: Do not use on areas of the skin with severe acne, a rash, or other skin ailments.

There is no downtime with microdermabrasion treatment
Microdermabrasion evolved from a technique called dermabrasion. Dermabrasion has been around for decades and was used to treat severe scarring by polishing the uppermost surface of the skin with an abrasive, metallic attachment. This highly effective technique requires recovery time, not to mention anesthesia. Microdermabrasion is gifted with a gentler, less invasive skin-resurfacing technology. And, there is no risk of dyschromia on darkly pigmented individuals.

Skin Remodeling is the Key to Scar Reduction
The reduction or removal of scars, skin lesions, blotchiness and stretch marks from the skin depends on a process known as "skin remodeling". The skin is able to heal lesions quickly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scar tissues are made from a rapidly formed "collagen glue" that the body deposits into an area when damaged for protection and strength. In ideal skin healing, injured skin is quickly reconnected or closed, then the healed area is slowly reconstructed to remove the residual collagen scar tissue and blend the skin area into the nearby skin. Excess collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This skin remodeling continues in the skin for ten years.

In children the remodeling rate is high and scars are usually removed very quickly from injured areas. But as we get older and reach adulthood, the rate of skin remodeling diminishes and small scars can remain for years. One way to accelerate remodeling is to induce a small and controlled skin damage with a needle, laser burns, microdermabrasion treatment, scrubbing or other means, and then let the skin healing processes rebuild the skin area. A second method is to use healing accelerators to increase the body's natural skin rebuilding process to obtain even better results.
