Scar Removal: Procedures and Products

by Martha Fitzharris

It is very common for acne to lead to the development of scars especially if you suffer from severe acne. In fact, anyone that has acne scars will be quick to admit that they can affect your self-esteem. In order to avoid this type of problem it is important that you consider scar removal and prevention as part of your acne treatment routine.

There are several methods for getting rid of scars, but the solution is usually surgery. However, there are some resurfacing procedures that can be less bothersome and just as effective.

When choosing an acne scar removal procedure, you will need to take into consideration the location, size, and type of scar or scars. Smaller scars, for example can likely be treated with microdermabrasion or scar creams, however, larger scars will usually require surgery and skin grafting.

Dealing with Acne Scars

The first step in avoiding acne scars is following a regular cleansing routine, which includes a good acne cream. Keep in mind that untreated or undertreated acne is one of the main causes of acne scarring. If, however, you have severe acne, it may be close to impossible to avoid acne scars.

You can treat acne scarring with either surgical or resurfacing techniques. Don't forget that the method you decide to use will depend on the location and extent of your scar tissue. The following is a list of the most popular procedures used to treat acne scars.

Punch Excision and Acne Scars

Punch excision is often used to treat deep, atrophic scars such as ice pick scars. This procedure includes the use of a sharp tool to "punch out" the area where the scar is located. The edges of the excised skin are then sutured together.

Laser Therapy and Acne Scars

Probably the best type of laser treatment for scars is fractional laser therapy. This type of laser bypasses the epidermis and works on the deeper layers of the skin. This will help improve the appearance of the skin without leaving many visible signs of treatment.

Scar Creams and other Skin Care Products

Natural skin care creams and traditional skin care products can be equally effective in your fight against acne scars, however, you need to make sure you choose products that can help dissolve scar tissue and promote the production of collagen. Some of the most effective natural ingredients include rose hip seed oil and snail serum.

Rose hip oil can be used in its natural, oil form. It can also be found in a variety of skin care products including scar creams.

By following a consistent acne treatment routine, you can reduce your chances of developing acne scars, however, if you suffer from severe acne, you may want to try BIOSKINCARE to help promote acne scar removal. BIOSKINCARE is a natural scar treatment made with snail serum. This natural ingredient can effectively dissolve scars without producing unwanted side-effects.
