What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a procedure where tiny particles “sand” or “polish” the skin and gradually remove scarred or discolored epidermal tissue. Microscopic studies have supported the effectiveness of microdermabrasion. This procedure is performed in a variety of settings from dermatologist and plastic surgery offices to some spas and high end aesthetician clinics, or you can try it yourself with our BIOSKINCARE CREAM WITH MICRODERMABRASION CRYSTALS = BIOSKINEXFOL.
How is microdermabrasion different than dermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion evolved from a technique called dermabrasion. Dermabrasion has been around for decades and was used to treat severe scarring by polishing the uppermost surface of the skin with an abrasive, metallic attachment. This highly effective technique requires recovery time, not to mention anesthesia. Microdermabrasion is a gentler, less invasive skin-resurfacing technology. And, there is no risk of dyschromia (blotchy patches) on darkly pigmented individuals.
The process of microdermabrasion uses fine micro-crystals to gently remove dead skin, oil deposits and debris through deeper than regular exfoliation, as well as to stimulate and polish the top layer of skin either on your face or body. This promotes cellular regeneration & rejuvenation, which in turn smoothes and softens the outer layer of skin.
What is microdermabrasion good for?
BIOSKINEXFOL is best for raised or flat scars, rough stretch marks and thick, dry and dull skin tissues. This product is the same as BIOSKINCARE CREAM but infused with micro-crytals so that you may rub it on old scars, usually very hard and tough, so that the physical breakdown achieved by microdermabrasion helps the enzymes in the cream to dissolve the scars more quickly.
Is microdermabrasion recommended for acne scars?
A microdermabrasion acne scar remodeling procedure is best for your facial skin if you have suffered scarring due to nodules, cysts or other severe forms of acne. The treatment will remove the skin’s top layer of dead cells and smooth out scarred tissues.
The method works especially well for those who that have suffered disfiguring acne conditions. Microdermabrasion smooths the surface of the skin and reduces skin imperfections. If the cream you use contains not only micro-crystals but also a substance that speeds skin regeneration, then new collagen and glycosaminoglycans will build up quickly and at the right pace and those will restore your healthy skin glow and skin resilience.
Microdermabrasion acne scars removal is an option for people whose severe breakouts result in scars on the face. However it will not work on pitted or ice-pick acne scars that are very deeply imbedded in the skin; it is for scars that are not extremely deep, but are closer to the outer layer of skin.
For depressed scars, such as pitted acne scars, subcision with needles is used by dermatologists to break up the deeply buried scar tissue. BIOSKINCARE CREAM should be applied before and after those procedures to speed new healthy skin removal and remodeling: the orderly process of laying out new collagen and elastin fibers.
Can I use microdermabrasion for all types of blemishes?
It is important to note that microdermabrasion is not a good choice for those individuals with the following conditions: rosacea, herpes, warts, eczema, lupus, and diabetes.
What can BIOSKINEXFOL microdermabrasion yield?
- A series of treatment can help improve skin texture, scars, stretch marks and melasma.
- Thoroughly cleans away excess oil, conditions skin pores to look smaller. It also helps to prevent pimples caused by pore obstruction.
- Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and softens and smoothes skin by reducing dry skin deposits on face, elbows, legs, and other parts of the body.
- Gently removes the uppermost layer of aged, damaged, dry skin, providing nutrient and essential vitamin delivery to the inner skin layers and promoting skin rejuvenation for a healthier, firmer, suppler appearance.
When using BIOSKINEXFOL even on the very first day the surface skin cell turnover will be enhanced and you will get visibly fresher, smoother, baby soft skin. By the end of the first week the cream can boost skin clarity for visibly brighter skin that glows with youthful radiance. By the end of week four the cream diminishes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage.
Methods that mildly abrade skin such as microdermabrasion and subcision (needling) are useful in speeding scar reduction in concert with BIOSKINEXFOL.
In children the remodeling rate is high and scars are usually removed very quickly from injured areas. But as we get older and reach adulthood, the rate of skin remodeling diminishes and small scars can remain for years.
BIOSKINEXFOL is a natural skin renewal cream and is recommended to accelerate rebuilding of healthy collagen skin cells after microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing or harsh peels.
BIOSKINEXFOL is made with a natural and complex compound of powerful biologically protein enzymes, copper peptides, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans. The compound acts as a biological activator of both the elimination of dead and damaged skin cells and the renewal of healthy collagen and elastin proteins within your skin.
For depressed scars, such as pitted acne scars, subcision with needles is often used by estheticians to break up the deeply buried scar tissue, and BIOSKINEXFOL then speeds new healthy skin removal and remodeling: the orderly process of laying out new collagen and elastin fibers.
There is no downtime after microdermabrasion treatment
Skin Remodeling is the Key to Scar Reduction
The removal or reduction of scars, lesions, and stretch marks from the skin depends on a process called “skin remodeling”. The skin is designed to heal wounds quickly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scars are manufactured from a rapidly formed “collagen glue” that the body deposits into an injured area for protection and strength. In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is rapidly closed, then the healed area is slowly reconstructed to remove the residual collagen scars and blend the skin area into nearby skin. Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers.
This skin remodeling may continue in a skin area for ten years. In children the remodeling rate is high and scars are usually rapidly removed from injured skin areas. But as we reach adulthood, this rate diminishes and small scars may remain for years. One way to accelerate remodeling is to induce a small amount of controlled skin damage with a needle, laser, microdermabrasion, scrubbing massage or other means, and then let the body repair processes rebuild the skin area. A second method is to use enzymes to digest scar tissues and skin remodeling activators to increase the body’s natural rebuilding processes to obtain even better final results.
Microdermabrasion Treatment
For didactic reasons the way the treatment for stretch marks and old rough scars should be applied is explained in phases.
Home Microdermabrasion
No skin preparation before the exfoliation is necessary. No pre-peel treatment with any other regime is necessary. First, clean your skin with an alcohol cleanser. Then just rub the BIOSKINEXFOL CREAM on clean skin, with either the tips of your fingers or with a dry and soft cloth. Simply apply a small amount to the skin and rub in a rotational pattern. Wipe after 10 minutes.
For practical purposes, the area to be treated may be divided into squares of 4 × 4 inches or smaller if on the face.
The goal of the microdermabrasion is to remove the superficial layer of the skin know as the epidermis and allow the cream to penetrate evenly. The microdermabrasion may be performed until you start to see your skin reddened or until you feel the first pain of abrasion. When you touch the surface of the abraded skin, you will feel roughness of the skin, as you are touching keratinocytes, which are better hydrated than the surface corneocytes.
Keratinocytes originate in the basal layer from the division of keratinocyte stem cells. They are pushed up through the layers of the epidermis, undergoing gradual differentiation until they reach the stratum corneum where they form a layer of dead, flattened, highly keratinized cells called squamous cells. This layer forms an effective barrier to the entry of foreign matter and infectious agents into the body and minimizes moisture loss.
Keratinocytes are shed and replaced continuously from the stratum corneum. The time of transit from basal layer to shedding is approximately one month.
Corneocytes are cells derived from keratinocytes during the late stages of terminal differentiation of squamous epithelia. Corneocyte desquamation at the skin surface is a complex biologic event which is normally regulated for providing an inconspicuous shedding of single corneocytes.
Application of the cream
The microdermabrasion cream can be applied with your finger tips or with a cloth until redness appears. Leave the product on your skin for about 10 minutes. Then cleanse by brushing or wiping off the micro-crystals. Usually with a 1-2 minutes massage to an area 10×10 cm (4 x 4 inches) the MICRODERMABRASION of cells will be enough. Note that the entire area must be treated.
The quantity to be applied is about 0.5 g per 10 × 10 cm area.
The cream will be the active factor at the depth of the scars or stretch marks, while also acting on the normal dermis between scar tissues. Both elements will create the improvement. The microdermabrasion ultra-exfoliation stimulates the fibroblastic reaction of the normal dermal cells located between scar tissues.
The cream will be absorbed deep within the skin during the microdermabrasion massage.
Multiple treatments are required to improve stretch marks
Treatments should be repeated every 2-3 days. Superficial stretch marks will require a 2 months treatment to achieve about 50% to 80% improvement, whereas it may take as much as four or six months of treatments to significantly improve old, large and deep stretch marks.
General Guideline:
4 – 8 Weeks – for mild or minor scars or marks.
8 to 12 Weeks – for noticeable results for old and deep stretch marks.
Results are better and fewer treatments are needed with more recent and/or superficial scars or stretch marks. It works as well for stretch marks seen during puberty or many years after pregnancy.
Before starting the treatment you should know that the final result of the appearance of stretch marks will be an improvement but never a complete disappearance. So you have to make a final decision when to stop the treatment.
Advantages:
BIOSKINEXFOL treatment offers many advantages and stays within a safe zone.
Presumed mechanisms of action are:
The microdermabrasion is performed to remove some of the corneocytes. These cells are responsible for the impermeability of the epidermis. Removing this layer allows the cream to penetrate.
The goal of the biological cream is to stimulate the fibroblasts of the healthy zones between stretch marks and act also at the depth of the scars or stretch marks.
The glycoprotein enzyme and the moisturizing and lipid enhancers contained in the cream start a partial dissociation of the corneocytes and enhance the penetration of the product by diminishing the superficial tension. Breaking of the barrier function of the epidermis creates an immediate stimulation of the lipids, DNA and growth factors into the keratinocytes that will stimulate their differentiation.
After the action of the abrasion and the cream on the healthy parts of the skin between the scar tissues, the cream also acts at the depth of the marks, stimulating re-epithelization and enhancing fibroblast production.
Caution:
Do not use on areas of the skin with severe acne, a rash, or other skin ailments.
You may find your skin to be tight for the first 24-48 hours. It may feel like a mild sunburn or windburn, but no further pain is common. Using a 30 SPF will help protect the skin from sunburns after the microdermabrasion acne scars treatment. Also, some peeling and light crusting may be expected in the area. No anesthesia is needed for this procedure, since it is non-invasive.
